• MASTER CALENDAR
  • Continuing judicial education is a cornerstone of CJA's program. Approximately 800 judges a year attend the professional seminars offered during the Association's fall Annual Meeting, the Midyear Conference in the spring, an annual Retired Judges Conference, the Rural Judges Forum, and an annual litigation program in conjunction with The Rutter Group. Also offered is a two-week foreign study program for members and guests. Previous locations include Israel; Oxford University; Morelia, Mexico; and Veracruz, Mexico.

These programs offer unique opportunities for bench officers to attend judicial education and network with their peers in a collegial atmosphere. Please Note: You must be logged in as a member to see some items on the Master Calendar and to have access to Member Only registration and information.

CALIFORNIA ACCESS TO JUSTICE COMMISSION, the CALIFORNIA JUDGES ASSOCIATION, and the CALIFORNIA STATE BAR ASSOCIATION Present:

In 2000, the California State Bar released a twenty-year projection that found as the population of California would become more diverse, the demographic make-up for attorneys and judges was projected to be less diverse. As a result, numerous pipeline projects were initiated, and the state held its first Judicial Diversity Summit in 2006. Since that time, strides have been made in the profession. This program will commemorate where we started, share the ground we have covered through the California State Bar Diversity Report Card, and explore what has yet to be done through the Judicial Council Advisory Committee on Providing Access and Fairness, the California Judicial Mentor Program, the California State Bar, and the affinity bar and judicial associations.

CJA Webinar - CJA Judicial Peer Support
    LOCATION

Nationally, we are noticing that more challenges exist for bench officers navigating the myriad of factors that must be managed daily. Remote and hybrid hearings, budget concerns, public protests, criticism of the judiciary in the media or social media, lack of staff support, concerns about judicial security, working with litigants who are burdened by financial, social and health concerns in a post pandemic world, and more, can interfere with our ability to bring our best selves to our important jobs. We may also experience interpersonal challenges with colleagues, supervisors, and staff and we may not always know where we can turn for a safe space to decompress and ask for advice or support. With this in mind, CJA has established a Judicial Peer Support Program (JPSP) through which bench officers can speak to experienced and retired judges for advice and support. Please attend this webinar to learn more!
