• Group Insurance and Benefits
  • Three group insurance plans are offered by CJA, chosen by the Compensation & Retirement Committee to provide specialized coverage for judges and their families:

Disability: The Judges Retirement System provides an annuity of 65% (taxable) to judges who become disabled while in office. However, unless the disability is clearly service-related, there is a 5-year waiting period before new judges are covered. To fill that gap, CJA offers a policy underwritten by Standard Insurance Company of Portland, Oregon. This policy pays 66.67% of your judicial salary (tax-free).
